Europe Top 12 2012 videos
Laola1.tv have given us the Europe Top 12 2012 with a catch. In my opinion it is the worst angle ever to watch table tennis videos. Why is the angle so high over the top of the table nobody knows. As the tournament continued there was more money spent on coverage of this table tennis event. And it was, with TTcountenance bringing us the best video on youtube again. In short, Ovcharov won the Europe Top 12 for 2012. And even though he played well his constant cho even when he did a basic push was over the top and ugly for the game of table tennis we wish to promote.
For me this Europe Top 12 is one of the most boring table tennis events ever. The Semi and Final looked very much like what you would find in any tournament around the world with no real sensational fights. The number one seed played as he should have and everyone else just looked like there was either no passion, for the higher ranked players, or just played as they should for lower level players. Boll didn't bother to come (supposedly was injured). Samsonov got kicked out by Shkackov in the semis somehow. Maze couldn't care less. Kreanga wasn't there. Nor was Baum. Mattenet played although injured, and made a fool of himself trying to force errord from his opponents by lobbing them (and failing). Schlager's display was that a war crippled in need of a weelchair. Only Ovctcharov gave the impression of taking this competition seriously, and was justly rewarded with victory.
On a good day Samsonov could still beat quite a few very high-ranking players, though probably not the very top (Ma Long, Zhang Jike, Wang Hao). In this match, he had match point against a player who played his very best. Had he been more accurate in his flick at 10-9, he would have joined Ovtcharov in the Europe Top 12 2012 finals and would have stood more of chance of winning than Skachkov who didn't win a single set.
Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Vladimir Samsonov got to the Europe Top 12 2012 quarterfinals easily, unlike Bastian Steger who, losts two matches.
Slachkov beat Steger in five games and secured a place in the next round. Chen Weixing played out of his skin to win in in his group. The Austrian player defeated Bastian Steger by 4:0 and Russia's Kirill Skachkov by 4:1.
Dimitrij Ovtcharov beat Werner Schlager 4:0 in the first match and beat Bojan Tokic 4:1, but in mostly very close games, for his defeat at the European Championship in the second match. The Slovenian made it to the semifinals after beating Schlager by 4:1.
Alexei Smirnov defeated Austria's Robert Gardos by 4:1 and killed France's Adrien Mattenet 4:0. Mattenet took Gardos to get into the next round.
Vladimir Samsonov is slowly coming back into form and getting back at various table tennis players that beat him recently. Vladi beat Marcos Freitas who he lost to at the Champions League, 4:2 and then taught Adrian Crisan 4:1 a lesson. Crisan beat Freitas.
In the quarterfinal matches: Dimitrij Ovtcharov vs Adrian Crisan Adrien Mattenet vs Chen Weixing Alexei Smirnov vs Kirill Skachkov Vladimir Samsonov vs Bojan Tokic.
