Austrian Open table tennis Pro Tour 2011 Men's Singles Final
The Men's singles final table tennis video uploaded by ttCountenance on 25 Sep 2011 of the Austrian Open - ITTF Pro Tour, September 2011, rose quite a few comments. If you have a video with 15 minutes of highlights, you know you had a good match. Ma Long is at his best and zhang jike is really improving his forehand! I think they are the best ever. Regardless, it was an absurdly epic match of pure speed and technique. Even in slow motion they are pretty fast. I love the style opposition but even if it's nice to watch, that's far to be my favorite players to watch especially the lack of strategy of Ma Long. But his technic is wonderful.
SO NERVOUS AT THE END!
If ZJK made the point at 13-12, it would have been a hold-up, isn't ?...He saved 6 match balls...But they both played like in a dream... 6:48 Really Amazing point of a really Amazing match. These guys were on fire. Ma Long totally deserved to win this match, next World Champion. Others say Zhang ji ke should have won. The best players, best points, best competition, best angle, best replays. I thought Ma would lose due to stress at Zhang's match point, but there was some hardcore power table tennis from Ma, very strong.
FUTURE AND PAST
Once again the Chinese stamp their utter superiority on the sport of table tennis. These guys are world class athletes with outstanding explosive power matched with immaculate technical skills. In comparison to the Chinese, every single other table tennis "athlete" from every other country looks like a rank amateur. Ma Long 12 ittf pro tour titles already? Ma Long wasn't 100% at WTTC, if he was playing like this at the WTTC this year, he would've beaten Wang Hao and then Zhang Jike. Ma long has regained all strength I can't wait to see what is in stall next. Wang Liqin vs Ma Lin's matches were very fierce competitions too, but this current new level is just higher. So who is China gonna leave out of the games for 2012?
Now that I think about it, this was better than Ma Long vs. Chen Qi at the German Open and Timo Boll vs. Ma Lin at the Qatar Open.
World champion lost twice to Ma long one month ago in China open and this time...
Timo Boll has no chance at Olympics 2012. With that consistent topspin game he will never beat those guys. And I am a big fan of Timo.
Every time we see these ridiculously awesome matchup: ma long xuxin zhangjike, it reminds me that only one of them would be going to olympic single.
They thought the world would hurt having too many Chinese players. I tell you the world would invest a load more money to the sports if they broadcast matches like this in the olympic games!
The team will be Ma Long, Zhang Jike and Wang Hao and for singles, they'll probably select Ma Long and Wang Hao, though I would prefer that they select Ma Long and Zhang Jike, as both are superior to Wang Hao.
I've been saying that Ma Long and Zhang Jike are the two best players in the world ever since the end of 2009, but this (and the final of the Harmony China Open a month ago) is just ridiculous! They clearly are the two best players, and by quite a margin at that! I'm pretty sure that the rankings will reflect this soon enough.
It's so obvious they practice with each other all the time. they know each other's games inside and out. they already know what the other guy is going to do. haha makes for incredible rallies
Everybody has his moment: )...Xu Xin played great during Katar open, Zhang Jike was unstoppable in WTTC, now it's Ma Long's turn again.....
But what matters the most is who happens to be the dominant one during WTTC and Olympics..
just as good or even better than the Xu Xin vs. Ma Long semifinal match
SPORTSMANSHIP
For the way they shake hands, people think they are impolite to each other. The truth is that after ten of years of training together, you won't even necessary to say good morning to each other in the morning, in this stage of friendliness, I believe. Zhang jike said "f*&k" in Chinese. Zhang Jike has to concede victory and learn to be humble this time. I was astounded by the skills they displayed and the profanities uttered by these two players!
I reckon they play together all the time, being on the same team and all. So they might just consider this a friendly match, not need all the formality of a regular match.
It's a chinese team thing not to show too much emotion after the match.
All about discipline, some would say they have no respect for each other, just pure competitiveness.
STYLE
Extreme rapidity and level, unbelievable footwork, great mental ability for both above all at the end, and a magnificient suspense at the end: epic!
Super match! Although I can't believe Zhang kept playing his BH attacks diagonally all the time. He won 1 extremely long rally at 4-2 in the last set with that, all the others he lost against Ma's active block.
are they human? Ma long's counterlooping straight down the line = getting damn good (y) against zhangjike and xuxin. What mentality both of them, such a tenacity. the last set, we can even see Ma Long is shaking. Power, speed and angle under extreme difficulties are what characterizes this epic match. Ma Long finally plays like what I call “The King of Table Tennis.”
during the last yrs I was saying to myself: now it won't get any better. but this is a lot better. they are striving for perfection every moment. and they are coming closer and closer to it.
Ma long's mental game has improved a lot!
The fact that long can pull out a rally's like that match point down is unreal, to be fair to zhang whatever long threw at him he was giving it back and most shots would have been winners with 99.9% of players in the world
